New England Storms and Fallen Trees

This past winter we saw one of the worst winter storms I can remember in all my 18 years of living in New England.  As expected, we generally get a decent amount of snowfall, ice, sub zero temperatures and icy winds. However, this past March there was one storm that combined all of the above with hurricane force winds.  In true Nor’Easter fashion,  this storm wreaked havoc on neighborhoods all across Massachusetts, from the South shore towns to regions in the Metro west, and in the North it wasn’t any easier.   Not only did the high amounts of snowfall partially cripple the area but the biggest problem that came out of this particular storm was that an unusually high amount of trees fell down everywhere.  With fallen trees there is usually damage to electric wires, as well as homes and buildings.  This was the case across many towns and cities.  The electrical companies had a hell of a time not only accessing electrical but just the sheer size of the job to clear away all the fallen trees was on a larger scale than they were accustomed to dealing with.  The town of Scituate was battered with high waves and seawalls collapsing, as well as many trees fallen.

In towns across the South Shore many homeowners sought out help for tree service Brockton for clearing away their fallen trees.  We passed many houses where trees had fallen into houses, front porches, and fences.  Many tree companies were backed up for months with calls for tree work.  This was probably very good for business, however pretty miserable for many homeowners that had to wait many weeks before tree services were available to help them clear fallen trees.   The danger here is that people get impatient and frustrated waiting, and will try to take matters into their own hands, attempting to remove precarious large branches or limbs and end up getting injured as a result.  One tree guy I talked to said that when a big branch is falling, no matter how fast you think you are, you can’t outrun it!  So better safe than sorry and call a tree company before trying to do it yourself.
